The U.S. government has decided to ease its trading measures against Japan for steel imports by removing 25% of tariffs for 1.25 million tonnes of Japan-origin steel under 54 product categories since April, according to the release by U.S. Department of Commerce.

The U.S. has imposed the import tariffs on steel and aluminum from some countries and regions since 2018 under its Section 232, claiming that imported steel products were a threat to the country's national security. Meanwhile, Japan has been claiming that the dispute should be resolved soon with the tariffs.
